August Running Goals

Walk/run interval training finished a few weeks ago and I tried for a little bit, just to wing it and run without a plan.  It didn’t work out so well. I had mental “I can’t do it” days and bad, bad weather - I just didn’t really get any further.  Last Friday, I decided to run at night - while it was amazingly cool with low humidity and it went absolutely amazing!  I found my long distance pace (10’20"-10’40"/mi), the pace that I can finally start extending my run without chickening out at the end.  Admitting it feels like I’m crawling but speed isn’t really important to me - not trying to win any races here, I’d rather get miles in.

Since I apparently need a plan, my goals for the rest of August is to increase my distance 15% each week, with a recovery week thrown in.

Week 1: 36min
Week 2: 43min
Week 3: 30min
Week 4: 52min
Week 5: 62min

I’d also like to run a mile and see how fast I can do it.  It’s been awhile since I sprinted.
